Stickman Hitman
Here’s a short silen movie I made on my iPhone as a kind of proof-of-concept.
Stick Man Hit Man – Sometimes the little guy’s just gotta die.
I made still images with my highly creative finger-painting like skills and an App called SketchBook by Autodesk (The people who own nearly all the cinematic 3D software on the market nowadays) — It’s quite good; Autodesk sketchbook has layered image editing (there’s a limit of 6 layers to conserve system resources), configurable paintbrushes and can even save layered images in photoshop PSD format — No this isn’t an advert – I was just impressed.
Once I had my images built, I strung them together using another impressive app called ReelDirector which is pretty neat video editing app. I added some transitions and a bit of motion to a couple of images (pan and zoom) and uploaded to youtube without using a computer at all.
Here it is:
Pretty good eh?
A couple of interesting things I discovered:
Firstly SketchBook can only make images in one resolution – a portrait image size that fits neatly on the iPhone screen.
Secondly Reel Director sets the final output frame size of the produced movie by the screen resolution of the first image or movie added which is why my sketchbook images turned it into a portrait movie.
